WĀnaka Rock Climbing was founded in WĀnaka in 1998...

...and ever since we have been providing top quality rock climbing guiding and instruction in Wānaka and further afield to travelling climbers as well as the local climbing fraternity.

As an overview of our business we offer guided rock climbing in the major climbing areas of the south island; Aoraki/Mt Cook, Wānaka, Queenstown, Glenorchy and Fiordland. This ranges from introductory courses to climbing with experienced climbers and even multi-day alpine rock climbing trips. 

At Wānaka Rock Climbing we centre our business around two things:

1. High quality instruction and guiding. For us, this is the most valuable aspect of our product. In the outdoor world, quality is gained by experience and good training. All Wānaka Rock Climbing guides are qualified through the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association and/or the New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association. Our guides have undergone standardised training at an industry level. Wānaka Rock provides professional development for our guides and expects that they keep up an excellent level of personal interest and training.

2. Environmental & local initiatives: Wānaka Rock Climbing is owned and operated by individuals who have a big interest in protecting the natural environment that we visit for work and play. Check out the many ways that WRC is working towards a better community/planet HERE!

What sets us apart?

Climbers first: We are not only guides and instructors, but climbers first. The mountains are where we work but also where we spend most of our free time. Let us show you what the crags and mountains have to offer.

Teaching background: All of our full time guides come from an educational background. This helps to promote a culture of learning progression that other guiding companies lack.
