This is the easiest and shortest alpine route that Wanaka Rock Climbing Guides. The NE ridge of Single Cone rises strikingly above Lake Alta. The climbing is easy but very enjoyable. Easy scrambling will lead to some fun pitched climbing, which then leads to the slender and impressive summit block.
An easy descent down the southern gullies leads back to the approach trail.
This route is suitable to climbers with a basic knowledge of rope skills and a good leave of fitness! The NE Ridge is a great way to experience the alpine environment without having to get over committed!
